The Reality Of Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare.

Two words that make some Christians get out their voodoo torches and say, “no thanks, this isn’t for me”. “I’ll just believe in Jesus without having to deal with that stuff.” That was me for a long time.  It is an uncomfortable subject to wrap your brain around if you never have before. You’re telling me there’s a spiritual realm we can’t see? Yep! Not only is there a spiritual realm, but this realm is in battle.

Ephesians 6:12 “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

When you are dealing with daily battles and trials in life, the devil is behind you encouraging every negative assumption that comes in your mind. The devil sets us up to get mad before anything ever happens. If you’re raging over an argument you’ve had in your mind with your husband before it actually even happens, the devil won.  And you allowed it.

The devil loves that you think you don’t have time to read your bible. He loves the fact that you don’t really feel the need to go to church. He loves the fact that you don’t tithe because you “can’t afford it”.  He loves that you don’t think you have time to get involved in your church. He loves that somethings been bothering you for years and you wont tell your husband about it. If he can keep you blinded, unsure, and just floating aimlessly through life he’s happy. He loves having all those places to live in your life.

If the words ” I don’t get that” come out of your mouth about any aspect the of the bible then you better start seeking it out. The devil lives in deception. He wants you to stay confused. He wants you to feel like it’s too big for you to really understand. Because if you did, you’d have the power of knowledge to kick the devil out of your mind. If you understood scripture and applied it to your life, the devil has no space to live.

Being a Christian is more than saying ” I believe in God and pray when I find time to”. You need to read your bible and apply it to your life. When the devil fills your mind with lies, being able to fight back with scripture and remind yourself of who God is and His promise to us will allow you to move mountains.
